This was a great project to work on. The Gaymers brand is rooted in music and iconic festivals and they wanted to have some fun on the summer festival circuit. The theme was ‘Lost in the Orchard’ and the company needed an enclosed set design full of intrigue with plenty of space for lively performances and an equally lively audience.
The set toured five music festivals during the course of the summer and it had to be built for robust use. Ignition collaborated with Ear to the Ground (a Manchester live communications agency) on this brief. Ear to the Ground provided delegate management, catering, corporate hospitality and events while Ignition created a cool, quirky and atmospheric set that drew on Gaymers’ heritage and links with the music industry.
The set was practical yet magical. The entrance, through a stylised archway of trees, led into a fantastical orchard featuring a working apple-press and a theatrical timber stage. It was funky, fun and sparkling – just perfect for cider, summer and festivals.
